Measuring guide
We know shopping for furniture online can be overwhelming—but it doesn't need to be. We've got plenty of resources, tips, and tools to help you make an informed decision. Measuring for delivery is one of the most important parts of the process. We recommend measuring and remeasuring! The last thing anyone wants is a delivery that can’t fit through your door. Before your new furniture can become a staple in your space, let’s double check that it can get into your space. To ensure everything goes smoothly, we’ve included a few easy steps to help you prepare for delivery.

Product measurements
Make note of the overall depth (D), width (W), and height (H) of the piece you are ordering. You can find these dimensions on each piece’s product page on housebarn.ie. It is helpful to outline the dimensions of the piece in masking tape to see how much space it will take up in your room. We recommend giving yourself an extra 1-2 inches of wiggle room to ensure the package will fit through all points of entry leading up to the room of your choice.
Ensure that the dimensions of the pieces you have selected fit comfortably in your chosen destination.

Measure the Path for Delivery
Start wherever the delivery team will park and walk the path to the exact place your item will live. Measure the height (H) and width (W) of all doorways, hallways, elevators, and stairways that your pieces will have to pass through in order to be delivered to the room in which you plan to place your furniture. When measuring, account for all architectural elements, light fixtures, stairwells, and so forth that could potentially impede delivery. Remember, sizable items will need room to rotate and manoeuvre without bending because...they are not bendable.

Staircases
Aside from the width of the staircase, make sure you note the railing height and width. Remember, these items are heavy, and can only be lifted so high. If your shipment can only clear the width of the staircase above the railing, it might not be enough room. Please measure any stairwell landings to confirm there's enough room to rotate if necessary.

Elevators
To confirm that the box will fit, measure the height and width of the elevator doors, as well as the height and width of the elevator interior. Certain buildings might have specific restrictions on using elevators for furniture delivery, so check with building management before your estimated delivery date.
